January 2013 Income Report

Hello everyone this is the very first income report that I have ever posted about my experience with making money online. I will posts these every month.

There are currently 3 primary methods that I am using for making money online. They are book royalties, sales of my own products and affiliate marketing. I am very successful at Amazon affiliate marketing. I do not include this in my income report. My goal is to create multiple streams of income so that is why these reports focus on my efforts to create additional streams of income.

Book Royalties

I have three books that I have written that I am selling on Amazon. The books are available in both paperback and Kindle versions. The first two books that I wrote were about real estate investing. I wrote on these topics because I have 24 rental properties. This was a topic that I am intimately familiar with and wanted to share my experience with others. For about 2 years I started to be asked to speak at different real estate groups about my experience with real estate investing. Invariably I would have many people come up to me after the presentation and ask if they could buy my book. The only problem was that I didn’t have a book. So I decided to take all the articles that I had written about real estate investing and compile them into a book. Back when ezinearticles was a viable source to drive traffic to your website I was ranked the #2 author in the real estate investing category and #3 in real estate property management. This provided me with quite a bit of source work so completing the real estate book was very easy to complete. The third book that I have on Amazon is written under a pen name and it is a book in the erotica category.

Product Creation

One area that I have been very successful with has been Amazon. One day I sat down at my computer and for 27 hours straight I wrote a product called Amazon Affiliate Bible. It shared everything that I have learned about being an Amazon affiliate and what you can do to increase earnings and conversions with your affiliate sites. If you currently have an Amazon Affiliate website then you can check out my Amazon Affiliate Bible here. NOTE: if you do not already have an Amazon affiliate website then this product is not for you because it does not teach you how to get started as an Amazon affiliate.

Affiliate Marketing

This has been the primary source that I have been pursing as a method to make money online. This is a method that anyone can use and I highly recommend it for beginners. You pick somebody’s product and start promoting it. If someone purchases from your promotion then you get a commission. I am currently signed up as an affiliate for about 8 different products. In all honesty I make 90% of my income from just 3 of them. Ultimately I will get to the point where all 8 of them are producing at the same level I currently get from my top performing affiliate marketing account.

January 2013 Income

Now that you understand the different ways that I used in January 2013 to make money online, let me give you a breakdown of how I did.

Book royalties   $154.72

Product sales $752.86

Affiliate marketing  $2,300

Total for January 2013  $3,207.58

  1. Jennifer- thank you for the inspiration! I tried to sign up for Amazon Affiliate Companion but your link is broken and I get an error message. Thanks.

    1. Marilyn, give me a day or two to get that fixed. I just redesigned my website using thesis 2.0 and had to learn how to use the new version. Just haven’t had time to update that yet but will get it done.

  2. Jennifer- I think it’s great that you’re being open about your income as it certainly does inspire people to continue pushing for that ultimate dream of saying bye-bye to the rat race. Did you decide not to post your Amazon earnings here for a reason?

    1. Brian,

Great question! In the vein of being totally transparent the reason that I do not include my Amazon affiliate earnings is because it does not figure into my plan to eventually be able to walk away from my day job. Ultimately I will be giving 100% of my Amazon affiliate income to my 2 sisters. I want this to be seed money for them to help them with paying off their debts and saving for their retirement. When my online income increases to the point I can quit my day job then I will be losing my Amazon affiliate income as I transition it to my sisters. That is why I don’t include it because I will not have it long term.
